6 commonly used surface processing techniques for stainless steel
1. Mirror treatment
The mirror treatment of stainless steel, in simple terms, is to polish the surface of stainless steel, and the polishing methods are divided into physical polishing and chemical polishing. Local polishing can also be performed on the surface of stainless steel, with polishing grades including ordinary polishing, ordinary 6K, precision grinding 8K, and super precision grinding 10K. The mirror gives a sense of high-end simplicity and a fashionable future.
2. Sandblasting treatment
This is the most common surface treatment process for stainless steel processing, which mainly uses the power obtained by compressing air and high-speed jet to spray the material onto the surface of the workpiece to be treated, causing a change in the shape of the outer surface of the workpiece.
3. Chemical treatment
This process mainly uses a combination of chemistry and electrochemistry to treat a layer of stable compounds generated on the surface of stainless steel. For example, the common electroplating in our daily life is a type of chemical treatment.
Chemical treatment mainly relies on separate or mixed acidic solutions, cationic solutions, etc. for rust removal. Afterwards, a protective film is formed on the metal surface through methods such as chromate treatment, phosphate treatment, anodizing, and blackening. This technique is mainly used to create complex pattern effects and meet the requirements of retro or modern design products.
4. Surface coloring
The surface coloring process of stainless steel can bring different colors to stainless steel, making the metal more diverse and colorful. Coloring not only enriches the appearance of stainless steel, but also effectively improves the wear resistance and corrosion resistance of the product.
The commonly used surface coloring methods include chemical coloring, electrochemical oxidation coloring, ion deposition oxide coloring, high-temperature oxidation coloring, and gas-phase cracking coloring, etc.
5. Surface brushed treatment
Metal wire drawing treatment is a common decorative method in daily life. It can be manufactured into several types such as straight lines, threads, ripples, irregular lines, and spiral lines. This surface treatment has the characteristics of good hand feel, delicate luster, and strong wear resistance. It has a wide range of applications in electronic devices, household appliances, mechanical equipment, and other fields.
6. Spray coating
There are significant differences between stainless steel spraying and coloring treatment. Due to the different materials used, some spray paints may damage the oxide layer on the surface of stainless steel. But some spraying can achieve different colors of stainless steel products with simple processes, and different spraying can also be used to change the feel of stainless steel.
